Research Interests

The Yang lab focuses on genome organization and function in complex diseases. We are interested in elucidating the causal relationship between genetic and epigenetic risk variants in the context of diseases. We utilize innovative epigenetic and genetic tools to explore the regulatory elements and investigate their dynamic transcription regulation under health and disease conditions.

Identification of cell type-specific regulatory elements in diseases

Cell type-specific transcriptional programming is the result of interplay between the repertoires of regulatory elements. We combine genomic and computational methods to identify the functional elements in a spatially and temporally specific way. By this platform, we are able to unearth the critical transcription factor and elements for cell fate transition during disease development.
